Mobilizing the Church for the Great Commission

Our Mission

We exist to carry out the Great Commissionto the ends of the Earth. We pray to do this through 3 major areas of focus:

Missions

Utilizing bridges God has built in order to reach out to the lost. This includes same-culture and cross-culture mission trips. The goal is to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mobilization

Putting into action the tools God has given us in order to educate and inspire believers to play a valuable role in the Great Commission.

Discipleship

Guiding and exhorting believers in a way that promotes a deeper relationship with Christ and encouraging them to use their spiritual gifts for God's glory. Discipleship culminates when believers are actively on mission with God—Disciples making disciples.

Our Heart

Every believer has a role in God's mission. Whether you're called to go, send, pray, or mobilize others, we're here to help you discover and fulfill your unique part in reaching the nations for Christ.

How Can We Fulfill What We Don't Know?

51%

of churchgoers have not heard of the Great Commission

Source: Barna 2018

This means that millions of believers are sitting in churches every Sunday without understanding their fundamental calling as followers of Christ. They're missing the very purpose for which Jesus saved them—to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. When Christians don't know about the Great Commission, they can't fulfill it. This is why mobilization is so critical.

The Great Commission

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

- Matthew 28

Our Burden

How shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

Romans 10:14

God's Solution

As it is written:

"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!"

Romans 10:15

Our Story

Our Founding

March 2023 • A Vision Born from Radical Obedience

Betancourt Missions was born in March 2023 from a burning desire to see Christians everywhere embrace radical obedience to Jesus Christ. We believe this means living a life fully on mission with God—answering His call to make disciples of all nations.

Founded by Ryan and Cherrybee Betancourt, our ministry emerged from a simple yet profound recognition: countless believers share the same heart for radical discipleship but often lack the support system, resources, or confidence to step boldly into God's calling on their lives.

God's Faithfulness in Action

Through the sacrificial contributions and partnership of many faithful individuals and families, God has enabled us to impact hundreds of lives. Each person we've encountered has been challenged to step out in faith and embrace Jesus's Great Commission with renewed passion and purpose.

What's on the Horizon?

As we look ahead, Betancourt Missions is doubling down on our mobilization efforts, believing God for a genuine movement of the Holy Spirit that will sweep across His church. We're committed to following wherever He leads—even to the ends of the earth.

Our Mobilizers

The leaders God has called to mobilize His church

The Betancourt Family

The Betancourt Family

Ryan and Cherrybee Betancourt, along with their daughter Amaryah, are based in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Betancourt Missions was founded in 2023. Together, they carry a deep passion for seeing the body of Christ mobilized into God's global mission.

Their ministry journey has spanned a wide range of areas—children's, youth, young adults, men's, and women's ministries, as well as both large-scale and home-fellowship church planting. Through it all, they've seen firsthand the transforming power of discipleship when it's led by the Holy Spirit and rooted in genuine love.

Moved by the reality that billions still live without access to the Gospel, the Betancourt family carries a holy burden to help awaken the Church to her calling among the unreached. Their desire is simple yet profound: to lead Betancourt Missions with humility and love, fully yielded to the Spirit of God, so that every believer might take their rightful place in God's redemptive plan for the nations.

Timothy Sanford

Timothy Sanford

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy Sanford serves as a missions mobilizer with Betancourt Missions, which he joined in the fall of 2023. A humble servant and gifted author, Timothy carries a deep passion for helping believers grasp God's missional call and live in full obedience to it.

Since joining Betancourt Missions, he has traveled and served alongside the team to help facilitate courses that awaken the Church to God's heart for the nations. With a teacher's clarity and a disciple's heart, Timothy excels at guiding others through Spirit-led learning experiences that deepen understanding and stir lasting transformation.

Rooted in humility and driven by love, Timothy continues to invest his life in mobilizing the body of Christ—encouraging every believer to take their place in God's global mission and live for the glory of Christ among all peoples.

Our Interns

The next generation learning to mobilize

Maximus Petersen

Maximus Petersen

Based in Las Vegas, Maximus joined Betancourt Missions as an intern during the summer of 2023—a decision that would radically transform his understanding of what it means to live on mission with God. His journey began when he traveled with our team to the Philippines, where he experienced firsthand the power of cross-cultural ministry and participated in the Kairos course as a student.

What started as learning quickly became leading. During that transformative trip, Maximus was trained to facilitate the very course that had opened his eyes to God's global mission. He returned home with a renewed vision and an unshakeable conviction that every believer has a vital role in reaching the nations.

Today, Maximus serves as one of our key volunteer mobilizers, using his gifts in videography, editing, and music production to advance God's kingdom. He regularly gives lectures, leads small groups, and carries significant responsibilities in our mobilization courses. His passion for reaching young people led him to co-found a Bible study group specifically designed for ministry to young adults and youth in Las Vegas.

In addition to his volunteer work with Betancourt Missions, Maximus serves as an executive producer for a nonprofit organization in Las Vegas, demonstrating how God uses our professional skills for His purposes. His story exemplifies what happens when a young believer catches God's vision for the nations—transformation that extends far beyond personal growth to impact entire communities.

Mobilization

Restoring the body of Christ to its God-intended function in His mission

What is Mobilization?

Understanding God's design for His church

In the medical world, mobilization refers to restoring normal function to the body. In the same way, mobilization in the Christian sense is the process of restoring the body of Christ to its normal, God-intended function. When the Church is mobilized, every part of the body moves in harmony with God's mission—each believer engaged, equipped, and sent to make Christ known among all nations.

Missions mobilization, then, is not a special assignment for a few, but the recovery of our shared identity and purpose as the people of God, living for His glory among every people and place.

The Problem We Face

Too many believers today live disconnected from God's global mission. They attend church, participate in programs, and even serve faithfully, yet remain unaware of their vital role in reaching the nations. This isn't a failure of heart—it's often a failure of vision.

When Christians don't understand the biblical narrative of God's mission, they miss the profound purpose for which they were saved, called, and equipped. They become spectators rather than participants in the greatest story ever told.

God's Solution: A Biblical Worldview

The answer isn't more programs or guilt-driven appeals. It's helping believers see the entire Bible through the lens of God's mission. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture tells the story of God pursuing relationship with people from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

When Christians understand this biblical worldview—when they see how their story fits into God's story—everything changes. Suddenly, their gifts, their resources, their relationships, and their circumstances all become potential tools in God's hands for reaching the unreached.

This is mobilization: awakening the church to its true identity and purpose in God's mission.

The Transformation We've Witnessed

We've seen it happen countless times: a believer encounters the biblical narrative of missions and experiences a paradigm shift. They realize that following Jesus isn't just about personal salvation—it's about joining God's redemptive work among all peoples.

These awakened believers don't all become overseas missionaries, but they all become mission-minded. They pray differently, give differently, live differently. They see their workplace, their neighborhood, and their relationships as mission fields. They become mobilizers themselves, inspiring others to join God's mission.

Discipleship

Guiding believers into deeper relationship with Christ and equipping them to make disciples who make disciples

What is Discipleship?

The heart of the Great Commission

Discipleship is not just a program or a class—it's the very heart of what Jesus called us to do. When He gave us the Great Commission, He didn't simply say "go and convert people." He said "go and make disciples." This distinction is crucial because it reveals God's ultimate purpose: not just to see people saved, but to see them transformed into mature followers of Christ who can then disciple others.

True discipleship is relational, intentional, and reproductive. It's about walking alongside someone in their faith journey, helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus, and equipping them to do the same for others. This creates a multiplication effect that has the power to transform communities and reach the nations.

The Discipleship Crisis

Many churches today have focused on getting people saved and into the building, but have neglected the crucial work of making disciples. As a result, we have many converts but few disciples—believers who know they're saved but don't know how to grow in their faith or help others do the same.

This has created a cycle where each generation of believers remains spiritually immature, unable to reproduce themselves in others. The church grows in numbers but not in depth, and the mission of reaching the world remains unfulfilled.

God's Design: Disciples Making Disciples

Jesus' model was simple yet profound: He invested deeply in a few people who would then invest in others. He didn't try to disciple the masses directly; instead, He poured His life into twelve men who would carry on His mission after He was gone.

This multiplication principle is what Paul described to Timothy: "The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2). Four generations of discipleship in one verse!

When we return to this biblical model of discipleship, we see exponential growth in both spiritual maturity and mission effectiveness.

The Fruit of True Discipleship

When believers are properly discipled, they don't just grow in knowledge—they grow in character, in their relationship with God, and in their ability to impact others. They become confident in their faith, passionate about God's mission, and equipped to make disciples themselves.

This is how the early church turned the world upside down with just a handful of people. They weren't just converts; they were disciples who made disciples. And this is still God's plan for reaching the world today.
